Director of Business Development

Job Purpose

As the Director of Business Development for APAC, you will shape regional security cooperation and drive mission-critical modernization. We are looking for a high-impact leader who can navigate the complexities of Foreign Military Sales (FMS), DSCA, and ITAR to build deep-rooted relationships with foreign defense authorities. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead business development activities for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) opportunities throughout the APAC region.
  • Develop and execute regional growth strategies aligned with corporate objectives and U.S. export policy.
  • Identify new programs, modernization efforts, and mission requirements within allied and partner nations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with U.S. embassies, Security Cooperation Offices (SCOs), DSCA, and regional defense procurement authorities.
  • Coordinate with U.S. OEMs, system integrators, and local industry partners to develop winning teaming and offset strategies.
  • Lead the end-to-end capture process from opportunity identification through final proposal submission.
  • Develop win strategies, value propositions, and competitive analyses tailored to specific regional customers and programs.
  • Work closely with engineering, contracts, and finance teams to develop compliant and compelling proposals.
  • Monitor active FMS cases to provide insight into program execution and identify follow-on opportunities.
  • Serve as a regional liaison between U.S. and in-country stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational and political realities.
  • Identify and manage local representatives, distributors, or consultants in accordance with ITAR and FCPA regulations.
  • Provide periodic competitive assessments and pipeline forecasts to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success in capturing major Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales programs.
  • An established network within the APAC defense community and U.S. Security Cooperation Offices (SCOs).
  • Deep understanding of U.S. export regulations, including ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), EAR, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
  • Proven ability to lead complex captures and coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering and finance.
  • Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to navigate diverse cultural and diplomatic environments.

Clearance Requirements

Must be a US Citizen and have at a minimum a Secret clearance or be willing and able to obtain a security clearance.

Working Conditions

This position typically operates in a professional office environment. Standard office hours are 8am to 5pm, however, work outside of regular office hours and frequent international travel (up to 40%) will be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and software.
