Divisional Controller
Job Purpose
As the Divisional Controller for the Americas & Asia and Maritime business units, your responsibilities will include acting as a strategic partner to the leadership teams by providing financial oversight and support to achieve short- and long-term business objectives. Your role is responsible for managing all financial activities within the divisions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis. Your previous experience working with divisions or business units in the Americas & Asia and leading people will ensure our companies' compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements while contributing to Network Innovations' commitment to continuous improvement and sustained profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and/or Corporate Policies.
- Manages the department's monthly close process and ensures the timely preparation of accurate periodic financial reports.
- Supports the operations, billing and accounts receivable teams.
- Manages the ERP system, including access, design and setup as needed.
- Develops new processes as needed to adapt to the new products, markets and services offered by the department.
- Generates and distributes department financial reports.
- Assists with the preparation of annual budgets, budget variance reports and forecasts.
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the business unit's performance
- Prepares internal analysis for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Supports the design and implementation of effective internal controls over financial reporting.
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Supports the facilitation of timely audits and reviews with external auditors.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements in Canada, the US, Singapore, Australia and/or any other region where the department has sales.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Partners with HR to recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely feedback to employees within the department.
Qualifications
- CPA designation with bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or other business-related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of practice in public accounting and finance with supervisory experience.
- Advanced skills in Excel including but not limited to PivotTable and V-lookup. Highly skilled in standard office software (MS Office, SharePoint, etc.).
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, perform a variety of tasks, and meet required deadlines and targets,
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a discernment to detail.
- Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- A willingness to embrace and live the core values of Network Innovations.
Working conditions
This position typically operates in a professional office environment. Standard office hours are 8am to 5pm, however, work outside of regular office hours and occasional travel will be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and software.
Physical requirements
Sitting and using a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
