Human Resources Generalist

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist will provide high-quality, proactive HR support throughout the Organization, encompassing North America, the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia Pacific. This role will involve all aspects of talent acquisition and retention, employment processing, WCB claim management support, training and development, records management, employee relations and retention, health and safety, and regulatory compliance. This role is an excellent opportunity for an intermediate HR professional who wants exposure and mentorship in a wide variety of HR functions in a global organization. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive personnel records.
  • Participate in the full cycle of recruitment activities including preparing job descriptions for posting, arranging for the advertisement of vacancies, screening candidates and drawing up short lists of candidates, organizing and participating in interviews.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, orientation and training.
  • Provide high-quality advice and service to managers on daily employee relations and performance management issues.
  • Work in collaboration with payroll and benefits administrators as required.
  • Draft general forms, letters, and reports, as necessary.
  • Assist with the revisions of internal policies and procedures for employee handbooks.
  • Support organization-wide compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Contribute to large scale HR projects and initiatives, including but not limited to, the implementation of a new HRIS.
  • The above is not an exhaustive list of duties. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a wide breadth of exciting HR tasks, as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience with extensive practice of recruitment.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • An obsession for time management and organization.
  • Love for all the small details.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the tenacity to dig in and find out "why?"
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • HR work experience in a safety-sensitive industry is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of American and or international employment legislation is a huge asset.

Working conditions

This position typically operates in a professional office environment. Standard office hours are 8am to 5pm, however, work outside of regular office hours and occasional travel may be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and software.

Physical requirements

  • The ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk while working on a computer or reviewing documents.
  • The ability to use hands to handle and control a keyboard and mouse.
  • The ability to understand and communicate clearly with others through speaking, listening, or writing
  • The ability to move around the office to attend meetings or retrieve documents.
