SATCOM Support Technician
Job Purpose
The SATCOM Support Technician provides technical support for satellite communications systems and network services supporting U.S. Government customers worldwide. This role is ideal for an individual with strong technical aptitude, excellent customer service skills, and a genuine desire to learn satellite communications and networking technologies. Working alongside experienced engineers, field personnel, and the Network Operations Center, the technician will develop the skills necessary to support mission-critical communications systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver first-line technical support for satellite communications systems and respond professionally to customer inquiries.
- Monitor satellite network health and performance, troubleshooting VSAT, networking, and communications issues.
- Appropriately escalate complex technical issues when necessary while maintaining ownership of the problem.
- Support software updates, equipment configuration, and testing procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the company's service management system.
- Assist with the physical installation, commissioning, and preventative maintenance of satellite communications equipment.
- Support customer site visits and travel throughout the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) as required.
- Work closely with the NOC, Engineering, Field Services teams, external vendors, and customers.
- Participate in technical training and continuous improvement initiatives to master technologies like SATCOM, VSAT Systems, IP and Cisco Networking, GEO/MEO/LEO satellite networks, and RF Fundamentals.
- All other duties as reasonably assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Minimum of 1-3 years of basic understanding of computers, networking, electronics, or related technical disciplines.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, customer service, and communication skills. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- A willingness to embrace and live the core values of Network Innovations.
- Preferred: Experience with SATCOM, VSAT, networking, telecommunications, or electronics. Military communications or DoD experience. CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar certifications.
- Associate degree or military technical training.
Clearance Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Working Conditions
This is a remote-based position, operating across remote work, professional office environments, and active technical field sites. Primary operational alignment with our Frederick, MD facility.
Travel: Travel (CONUS and OCONUS) is an essential function of this position. While typical travel is estimated at 50%, candidates must have the flexibility to travel more than 50% depending on customer requirements, project assignments, and operational needs. Travel may include both CONUS and occasional OCONUS assignments on a global basis, with advance notice provided whenever reasonably possible. Candidates must be able to travel on short notice when required to support customer or mission-critical operational requirements.
Schedule & After-Hours Support: Occasional after-hours support is required for customer operations. Candidates will participate in a shared, rotating after-hours support schedule. Scheduled overnight support is typically performed remotely from home, ensuring continuous support for mission-critical customer operations while maintaining flexibility for employees.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to frequently move, transport, or position materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, utilizing team lifting or assistive equipment for anything over that weight.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
- Wear PPE as required.
- Must possess a valid passport without restrictions.
